President and Sovereign Grand Commander David A. Glattly, 33°, is pleased to announce Brennan J. Parken, 32°, has been named Director of Membership, effective January 1, 2021. Brother Parken will oversee NMJ membership recruitment and retention efforts at our Supreme Council headquarters in Lexington, Mass.

Brother Parken first joined the Scottish Rite, NMJ staff as Member Services Coordinator in January 2020. He then assumed responsibilities as Assistant Director of Membership in April 2020. One of Brennan’s biggest accomplishments in his time on staff thus far was leading the Virtual Reunion program, which brought in over 1,000 new members in the Fall 2020 season during the COVID-19 pandemic.

He clearly understands the wants and needs of our membership, and his collaborative and engaging management approach is outstanding. There is no doubt he will develop vibrant programs for recruiting and retaining members, support them in their relationship with the NMJ, and communicate the value of membership in the Scottish Rite to worthy Master Masons looking to join.”

“When we created the Membership department in 2017, we couldn’t have imagined how big the role was and exactly what it would look like,” said Michael C. Russell, 32°, Executive Director. “With the member-centric approach to all we do, we can put Brennan on the road focusing on the membership experience throughout the jurisdiction. This position allows George T. Taylor, IV, 32°, to focus exclusively on what he does best, work with our Valleys to be successful. Brother Taylor will now serve exclusively as Director of Valley Relations.”


Brother Parken received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Management Information Systems and Nonprofit Administration from the University of Oklahoma, where he focused his studies on nonprofit leadership, business management, and data analytics. He firmly believes understanding data trends and integrating technology solutions can be a boon for businesses, especially membership-based nonprofit organizations.

His past professional experience includes serving as Field Representative for Oklahoma DeMolay, where he oversaw new chapter and membership development around the state of Oklahoma. In his time as Field Representative, Oklahoma DeMolay consistently finished annually in the top three for membership growth in DeMolay International.

Brother Parken’s Masonic journey began in DeMolay, where he is a Senior DeMolay from Excalibur Chapter in Yukon, OK. He is a Past State Master Councilor and a Past State Dad of Oklahoma DeMolay. He has received the Degree of Chevalier, the Past Master Councilor’s Meritorious Service award, and the Blue Honor Key membership award. He was raised a Master Mason in Yukon Masonic Lodge #90, Yukon, OK. He is a 32° Mason from the Valley of Boston, Scottish Rite, NMJ.

Parken added, “Membership begins and ends locally in the Valley, and it is paramount that we work with our Valleys to bring excitement about Scottish Rite Freemasonry and enhance the member experience. We will continue to adapt and overcome the membership challenges we face to shift the paradigm and forge our future.”
